Marmalade Cafe @ Publika

We have been looking for a place that we could bring the little ones to play around while we eat and catch up with friends. Have stumbled upon this not so little gem in Publika. This place is fantastic for children as they have perfectly designed designated play area for children and also the place is big enough to let them run around to burn their energy!

Interior wise is very clean and cozy for families to feel comfortable.

As for the food I have heard and read about some mix reviews on it. So I decided to try it out and make my own judgement.

We started the first dish off with the chicken burger. You could tell it was cooked in a healthy way as you can't really taste much oil or butter been used. On the toss side it is slightly dry.

Next one was their Spicy Lamb Burger. This was one burger I had to try as there are not many cafés or restaurant that does it this way. This one was however tasted much better than the chicken burger. Same thing on the dryness scale but it definitely tasted much more in flavor.

If you got children, order their kids meal as well. Guarantee not to dissapoint as we loved their creative in making sandwich appealing for the children to munch on!.

Overall my verdict is that this place is definitely a great place for parents to catch up with friends while your children runs around wildly. But if you are looking for fancy tasty greasy food then this is not your cup of tea. The food here I would say healthily delicious in my own opinion.

Ah Her Bak Kut Teh

Another top favorite place of mine for Bak Kut Teh. Ah Her is only open for dinner. And their doors open at 5pm so you better go early! Trust me when I say go early, any later than 6pm be prepared to stand and wait hovering over tables that's about to finish. I felt like a fly hovering hungry atop other people's meal while they eat....

As you can see from the pics above, people come early to this joint. A bowl of meat and soup will cost you RM 9 per bowl. Almost felt like I should be doing the boat noodle style of seeing how many bowls I can gobble down my throat! To be honest, it is one of the cheapest bowls of BKT that you can find around Klang.

Please be warned that they are notorious for being very stingy with their soup. If you are looking for dousing your whole plate of rice full of soup, please do not come here. Broth is creamy and it felt a tad bit too oily for me. However it taste really meaty and it has a stronger meaty flavor to it. As for the meat, I am more of a lean meat eater hence I ordered the tougher part of the meat and needless to say it was slightly on the tougher side. I will be back to definitely try their other cuts.

Overall, this is one place you must try if you are in Klang when you are craving for Bak Kut Teh for dinner! Definitely leaves you satisfied after the long wait. Oh and I forgotten to mention he wait for my food was long and it took about 45-50 mins. So make sure to come early and not too hungry otherwise you will only be grumpy with yourself during the long wait.

Fat Spoon

I have always wanted to try this place. A lot of rave about it and I thought this would be the best time to curb my curiousity.

We ordered a few items and we started it off with their famous Fried Nasi Ulam. Taste was very unique and the fried chicken was just nice and crispy.

Next dish was their popular Moo Moo Rice bowl. It felt like I was eating a Thai dish. Taste wise, I would say its close to what Thais would call it stir fried basil beef dish.

The other surprise we had was the Tamarind Prawn Pasta which we thought will steal the lime light. However in my opinion of this dish is that the fusion part of this dish needs a slight improvement of balance. The taste was rather to tangy for my liking. But I definitely give it a 7/10 for creativity!

Overall, the food were great and the place has a really nice ambience to it when you step inside. It's almost like a very quaint neighborhood local restaurant.

Jibby & Co.

This is one place that I have been planning to try out. Always been put off by the large queue outside. So make sure if you were to try this place out, do come early otherwise you be waiting rain or shine....

Firstly when you enter the vicinity it gives you a comfortable feel and you kind of transcend yourself to a classy dining experience to come.

The definite must try here are their Bake Eggs. The dish is called Casablanca Eggs. In this dish you definitely could taste the spices hitting your palate. I guess it has to kind of live up to its morrocon feel due to its name of the dish. The eggs we had was a runny but just right and the chicken sausages underneath it complimented it very well.

The second dish we ordered was the pizza. It was a meaty choice we had recommended by our waiter as he mentioned it was one of their signatures. I felt it didn't live up to its standard. But maybe it was probably due to the busy crowd today due to the Malaysia Day holiday.

Overall the food was good and definitely paying a visit again IF it's not on holiday! :)

Ah Chai Bak Kut Teh

This is a relatively new kid on the block. This new comer introduce themselves with a semi unique twist of putting the bowls on top of the candle burners to keep it warm. This trend we could see adopted by their infamous rival Pao Xiang BKT.

Klang is known for their style in serving the different cuts of meats and we chose the usual lean meat "Goh Hui" and Big Bone "Tua Kut".

Overall taste and quality of meat and broth brings a nice balance of herbs and meat. This is their only outlet and for the BKT lover in you, this is fully recommended to try!

Their shop is located in:-
Jalan Chan Ah Choo
Port Klang, 42100
